Disney's Adventure Island

Disney's Adventure Island is a proposed project to the Walt Disney company . We conceptualized a new way to build on current brands and characters to create a entirely new, yet unique resort experience. We remixed several existing brands and tied them to emerging technologies to create a proposal for a unique and immersive resort experience. Many of the ideas put forth were six years ahead of their time, only now seeing actual, real-world adoption into theme parks.

The Adventure Island logo is based of Disney's original Adventureland logotype.

Adventure Island aims to enhance guest immersion by offering them a chance to spend day and night within a living, breathing world of attractions, dining, and entertainment. A central goal of Adventure Island was to offer classic adventure experiences (treasure hunts, jungle expeditions, pirate ship battles) using new and emerging technologies (mobile, NFC, GPS, RFID, etc.) This allowed us to develop familiar experiences that also felt entirely fresh.

Customizable key concept. These keys were conceptualized as containing RFID chips so guests could use them for room keys, purchasing. This would also allow the resort to track attraction popularity and better respond to guest demand.

Attractions included new experiences, such as Jungle Treasure Expedition with Donald (left) as well as spins on Disney classics such as a Jungle Cruise rapid experience guests could swim in (right).

The Expedition was to have numerous randomized stops, which would allow for a new experience each time and the ability to offer a range of difficulty levels.
